Dirga Pranayama
Three-Part Breath
Three-Part Breath — a breathing practice for a beginner student. Its focus is relaxation.
Sit comfortably with an upright but relaxed spine.
Establish natural breathing.
Begin the technique gently.
Keep inhalation and exhalation comfortable.
Do not force or extend retention.
Stop if dizzy, distressed, or uncomfortable.
Finish with natural breathing.
Keep the breath easy; never hold or force it.
Increase duration or complexity gradually; introduce ratios and retentions only with competent instruction.
Arranged for you
The library holds a practice in the same form for everyone. A routine is the result of choosing from it, in an order, for the time you have.
